Hi, my name is Brittany. I have been trying all kinds of new things to help me in the kitchen as I have a rather large family. Everything I have come across, seems to only be for smaller families. Just so you can see what a day is for me, here goes. I have 5 children. Ages 9 to 3. I also have 2 adult dogs and one just had 4 puppies. 4 out of 5 of my children are in school. We live on 60 acres and are getting ready to get livestock to help out rather then having to go buy meat from the store. In the meantime though, we still purchase groceries at the store. I have figured out our size of freezer meals we need. I usually use 2lbs. of ground beef for everything I cook such as, tacos, enchiladas, chili, hamburger stew, etc. I have since upped the amount to 4lbs. This gives us extra to freeze and reheat whenever needed. To fix everything I normally make in a month, I’d need 23 to 25lbs. of ground beef. Plus about 11lbs. of chicken breasts. I’ve also been experimenting with pressure canning and water bath canning, this way, I can make our own homemade spaghetti sauces and fresh canned vegetables. I will be posting more about the canning and freezer meals as I go. For now though, this should be helpful for those looking to do freezer meals with a larger family then 4 or 6 people to feed. Please feel free to share, like or comment with anything you’d like to know. I will get back to the comments as soon as I possibly can.
